Beautiful Danger

This my drive to church tonight. Beautiful to look at but treacherous for driving.

Thinking of Haiti

Other than suffering a bonk to the head resulting in what may be a mild concussion, today I watched the Help Haiti Live benefit concert broadcast live online from Nashville, and it was amazing. It pretty much confirmed my love for Needtobreath's music and my love for banjos. It also reminded me of how much I have to be thankful for, how much I've been given and how much I can give away.

SNOW DAY

Feb 26 - It snowed so much Alfred canceled classes. Alfred canceled... that's kind of a big deal. So, because the weather was supposedly too bad to drive to school, my family drove forty minutes to go snowboarding instead. Perfectly logical thing to do, it you ask me.

Kitten

A new kind of neckwarmer

Oh, What A Day

So here's the lowdown: the car was in the shop, so I had to take my sister's car to school. I had to leave the house extra early so I could stop at the university police station and get a temporary parking permit. Before I left my house I made tea because I had a nasty cold. Because I left early I did not have time to drink my tea so I brought it with me. When I got out of the car I dumped said tea all over me. So I walked around most of the day with sopping wet pants, a clogged nose and a headache. One of the only highlights of my day was getting a pop tart out of the vending machine and having an extra one fall down. By the time I ate the second package that evening the illness had affected my mental stability.

There Have Been Better Days

Headache, sore throat, and a stuffy nose... oh yes, there have been better days.

A Sunday Celebration

Despite the misleading hat, it wasn't actually anyone's birthday, however, it was a lovely day because my brother was home for the first time in over a month.

Welcome Home

My beautiful sister returned from Ethiopia today, still alight with the glow of Africa. I got to hear lots of stories and see pictures that made me wish I had gone too, but hearing about it was the next best thing.

Sunshine, I Love You

My sunglasses collection longs for your presence, oh sunshine.

February 17

Today was a remarkable example of the nature of New York weather... in one town there was not a snowflake to be seen, ten miles down the road there was a blizzard.

Isaiah 6:8

"Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?'
And I said, 'Here am I. Send me.' "

The hardest part is the waiting.

Light and Shadow

I spent the better part of my afternoon playing with my camera and a lamp, learning all the cool things a person can do to manipulate an image using different lighting techniques. I'm not sure how much I learned, but I did have fun. I like the contrast in this photo of the bright light on one side and shadow on the other, the only problem is that you can see a weird reflection of the lightbulb down by my chin. I'm not really sure how that happened, but it's rather irksome.

Romans 12:2

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

Sheaves of Wheat

In a theater production, the four of us girls were cast as goofy sisters who were in an interpretive dance group called the Sheaves of Wheat, now, two years later we still have reunions. Since then a new addition, Spencer, has arrived in the Sheaf family. His three sheaf aunties think he's a little cutie!

Swing With Me?

Snow covers all the blemishes of the mud and the dead grass of wintertime. It also covers the roads, making it quite a challenge to make it to class on time. I did not conquer the challenge today. But I was forgiven.

A Yummy Ending

Feb. 9 After washing what seemed to be hundreds of mini bundt cake pans at work, Sherri gave me the scraps from the bundt cakes and I made a trifle. It had strawberries and peanut butter cups in it and it was delicious! I love my job.

Because I Am Lazy...

I slept for like three hours after school and forgot to get a picture of something that represented my day, so instead, I took a picture of my utterly adorable cat.

Superbowl

Superbowl: the football game where the advertisements are more important than the game itself. My fav? The dorito ad where the guys in the gym steal the chips. Least fav? All the ones with men in underwear... and there were many. No one wants to see that....

Take Two

Saturday Feb 6 - Snowboarding take two. A little colder than last time, but still quite fun indeed.

A Walk To School

Friday Feb 5 - Down the steps, along the sidewalk, across the road, down the hill, into the wind, through the crowds and finally to my classroom. In five degree weather. Makes for a wonderful morning. Or maybe not.

A Dream Come True

Today was my first official day working at Family Life. Woohoo for kitchen staff! But while that kind of is a dream come true, it's not the dream the title refers to. The title is being quite literal. You see, last week I had a dream about Sherri's chocolate cookies with the white chocolate chips and then today, we made them. I ate one. And I brought one home. A dream come true.

The Newest Addition

Meet Ebony, also called Kitten, and nicknamed Demon Cat for short. She lives up to her name well. Ever since she moved indoors after a near death experience and a subsequent rescue by my sister, she has terrorized the inner workings of our home. No food item, no scrap of leftovers is safe from her. Nor is the food on our plates as we eat it. She is infamous for jumping on diner's shoulders as they eat and attempting to launch herself into their dinner. Subtlety is not in her vocabulary. So far she has not succeeded in landing in anyone's supper, although she did grab my dad's toast when he set it down to read the paper. She likes toast.

Summer Come Soon

Spent a long day sitting out on the grass, soaking up the sunshine in the seventy degree afternoon... or maybe it was just the hallucinations brought on by cabin fever...
